His final minutes would now be added to the monstrous stories of a city with countless ghosts…

They are unlikely best friends. Joyce has her own elegant style, Ginger dresses for comfort. Joyce shops till she drops, Ginger prefers a long hike or a museum. But they share a love for travel, and a certain talent for sleuthing. Which is just as well, as murder seems to follow them wherever they go.

When a young man is found dead in a dark, lonely passage, an event at Edinburgh Castle hosted by Archie Buchanan, Viscount of Strathfinnan, turns sour. And things go from bad to worse when one of the rare artefacts on display from Archie’s collection is stolen. Are the two crimes connected?

Unsettled by the turbulent past – and present – of the city, the two friends depart Edinburgh for Dunairlie Castle, the ancient seat of the Buchanan family. As the undeniable attraction between Archie and Joyce deepens, Ginger too finds a new love – of the liquid variety. And with the annual Highland Games taking place at the weekend, the atmosphere is one of excitement and anticipation.

But when a second dead body spoils the ambience, Joyce and Ginger realise that Archie has a reason to want both victims dead. Is Joyce destined to be unlucky in love yet again? And as the killer steps up their campaign of fear, will she and Ginger live long enough to answer that question?

Love is in the air in the Auld Country, but so is murder. Which will win in the end? Dare you lace up your hiking boots and step into the Highlands to find out?
