Goblin Peon No. 49 is a nobody. A clueless NPC at the very bottom of the dungeon’s food chain.
But then his script glitches. He gets a character class, attributes, a user interface. He even gets a name: “Rook.”
Stalked by the god-like “System” and guided (sort of) by a giant, pot-bellied rat with delusions of grandeur, Rook stumbles onto a quest: recover three memory shards — shards with the power to turn an NPC into a player character.
Along the way, he’ll run a deadly gauntlet. Goblin-sized blenders. Malevolent (and chatty) ancient artifacts. Demons repurposed as transportation hubs. Hallucinatory giant mushrooms. And trolls with a very specific skincare routine.
If he wins, Rook will become a player character in a world designed to kill him. And if he loses… well, some outcomes are worse than death.
