But space is vast and unforgiving, and their desperate flight takes an unexpected turn when they detect a distress signal—a Marine corpsman and a reporter, blown from their dropship, slowly dying in the void. In that moment, Dani must decide what kind of man he wants to be, what kind of example to set for his children.
They’re not the only survivors fleeing the carnage. A battered task force commander may face a court martial for choosing survival over suicide. Military dropouts and corporate refugees band together in mining stations. Engineers and medics patch failing life support with prayers and spare parts. Each carries their own ghosts, their own reasons for fighting to see another day.
Pursued by an enemy whose motives remain opaque and whose technology defies understanding, these scattered survivors must navigate treacherous asteroid fields, forge fragile alliances, and outrun the expanding darkness. Every jump could be their last. Every decision carries the weight of species survival.
